Ecostars® is a hotel-specific sustainability certification that awards eco-stars based on a hotel's environmental impact per stay. Is recognised by international organisations such as the World Tourism Organization (UNWTO) and the Global Sustainable Tourism Council (GSTC). The certification process is fully digital, taking an average of just two days from application to certification, thanks to an automated process owned by Ecostars, with participation from entities like Ecoembes and Ecofoodies.

The hotel features LED lighting throughout, including light movement sensors in colleague areas. We are committed to continually improving our facilities to contribute to a better and more sustainable world. We encourage our guests to use our electric car to reduce carbon dioxide emissions, and in our restaurants, we also provide locally sourced and fair-trade food options.

Responsibility for Our Guests

Mandarin Oriental, Barcelona is committed to sustainable and environmentally responsible practices. When possible we use locally sourced, fresh and seasonal products in our restaurants and in-room dining. Additionally, all our sugar, cocoa, coffee and tea are sourced from Fair Trade suppliers. This approach supports local farmers and producers, ensuring our guests savour the best flavours. By incorporating these high-quality ingredients, we provide a delicious and eco-friendly dining experience.

Responsibility for Our Community

Mandarin Oriental Hotel Group encourages all colleagues to volunteer one day of their time, with pay, for charity. We have actively supported our local community throughout the year, including collaborating with a charity to accompany elderly individuals who are alone and setting up a wishing tree at Christmas to ensure children in shelters receive gifts.
